Abstract:

This chapter examines the prevalence and distribution of obesity among asexuals and sexuals. Most human sexuality research has focused on sexuals, with comparatively little attention directed to asexuals. Prior work has mainly examined the behavior and characteristics of sexuals, i.e., heterosexuals and homosexuals and bisexuals. But in terms of their sexuality, some individuals do not fall clearly into the heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual categories. A non-trivial number of persons reports that they are not engaging in sexual activity, and/or that they experience no sexual desire, and/or that they self-identify as asexual. Moreover, asexuality is gaining increasing attention in the popular media as a separate and distinct sexual orientation.
